The Italian National Olympic Committee (Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano) establishes and organises the Trofeo CONI in synergy with the Italian sports federations and through its own territorial structures. The project takes place every year. The aim of the project is to spread initiatives designed to enhance youth sport in Italy and, for some years now, in the countries where CONI is represented by a delegation. Under 14s may take part, limited to the 10 to 14 age group (born between 2008 and 2012), from the ASD (Associazioni sportive dilettantistiche, amateur sports clubs) duly registered in the Registro CONI.
The CONI Delegation in Switzerland takes part in the Trofeo CONI as a guest in the football discipline, with 3:3 matches (read the regulations). Salvatore Mazzotta is handling the selection of young talents for the composition of the delegation that will represent Switzerland.
