Take this interview as the word of mouth of a female friend or of a male friend. A piece of advice, given casually, between a coffee and a completely relaxed outing. Because it happens to us, many times, to hear questions such as “do you know a good Italian restaurant? Do you know where to eat a real Neapolitan pizza? I am looking for an Italian hairdresser not far from where I live”. Or “I am going crazy trying to find a beautician in Zurich, do you happen to know one who is serious, reliable and above all speaks Italian?”. We have the answer.

Tuttoitalia, by vocation, travels all over Switzerland and promotes businesses, even niche ones, that represent an excellence of the Italian offer. And in our constant wandering, we have found a place that is worth describing to you. It is the studio of the beautician Ilaria Rizzello, Ilaria Cosmetic & Nails, and if you do not know it yet, it is time to drop by. Ilaria is a young woman of 23, born and raised in Switzerland and with origins proudly rooted in the south of Italy. We met her right in her refined and welcoming studio, in the very central Zypressenstrasse, in Zurich. She invites us in with a sunny and warm smile, offering us a coffee with innate kindness. Halfway between embarrassment and emotion, she tells us a little of her story. Ilaria is a young entrepreneur, daughter of a painter and restorer who emigrated to Switzerland forty springs ago now. In June 2012, just over twenty years old, she decided to open this studio, with the fundamental help of her whole family: “my father did the renovation, painting and restoration work; my uncle helped me a lot and my boyfriend carried out all the necessary electrical work. We really did everything within the family”. She smiles, pouring us a glass of water. But her adventure in the world of work does not begin exactly on these tracks. The road that leads her to become a beautician starts with an ordinary office job: “I studied at the KV, accountancy school is how you say it in Italian?, and for work I dealt with e-commerce. Then some time later, almost as a game, I accompanied a friend to a course on nail care and nail art. And from there a double life began. I liked it more and more and in the evening, back home, I did the nails of my mother, of my friends and of my relatives. And so I ended up working at 170%. Not being able to manage both realities, I followed this newborn passion by embarking on a new career”.

She studied and specialised at the prestigious Maria Schweizer school in Zurich. A school from which she learned the secrets of caring for the whole body, in order to devote herself to her clients from head to toe: “the relationship with the clients is an aspect I care about enormously. You have to devote the right time and the right attention to each one of them. With me they confide, they talk and they open up; they tell me about their day, about their small or big everyday problems. Being a beautician is a bit like being a friend and at the same time a psychologist. But you have to be careful to understand what kind of person you have in front of you and respect their privacy, always”.

From these words we understood how much importance Ilaria gives to her clients: she welcomes them kindly, offers a coffee while they wait for their turn and, once the treatment is finished, she listens carefully to their comments because, she explains to us, “it is from criticism that you learn to do this job. You have to appreciate the advice and try to improve: I am happy when a woman leaves my studio satisfied. The contentment can be read in her eyes and I realise straight away that she will be back soon. And from time to time, for my clients, I also organise an aperitif in the salon: a bit of music and something to drink, because I like to strengthen these friendships that go beyond work”. But what is it that makes Ilaria a truly reliable beautician? Without doubt, as you can tell from the photo gallery, her studio is a little jewel. “I furnished it myself, with the advice and the help of my parents. And I chose this strategic position in Zypressenstrasse 58, because my clients can also count on a parking space reserved for them. They do not have to struggle looking for one around the area for hours”. Without forgetting the products she has chosen for the beauty care of her regulars: “Babor is among the top brands in the wellness & beauty sector: its strength lies in offering effective and careful treatments for the whole body. You find them on sale only in the best studios specialised in beauty. For the nails, on the other hand, I rely on the brand OPI , because it is the ultimate in terms of nail art, fashionable colours and products of the very highest quality”.

For every season or particular time of the year, Ilaria creates a special offer: treatments for spring or ahead of summer, autumn and winter beauty packages, special prices for Christmas, Easter and other holidays. “And as the latest novelty, we do the make-up for brides, to enhance the beauty of the woman on the most important day”.
