The 500 Dolcevita special series celebrates the Fiat icon's 62nd anniversary

As per Fiat tradition, on 4 July the anniversary of the 500 is celebrated, an authentic Italian masterpiece that helped motorise Europe in the 1950s and that still today continues to amaze with record numbers. To celebrate the Italian icon, the fascinating 500 Dolcevita debuts today - the first special series of the new range - embodying the values of Italian Glamour, that is a lifestyle born precisely in those years that involves fashion, design and art but also the aesthetics of everyday living, taste, imagination and “saper vivere”. This is the identity and the charm of the Belpaese, and the 500 is one of its best-known symbols in the world. The occasion is even more moving when you consider that it coincides with the first 120 years of the Fiat brand, a milestone that only very few carmakers in the world can boast.

The evocations of the 1960s return to inspire dreams

With the new 500 Dolcevita special series, then, the atmosphere of the 1960s is relived, when Rome is the capital of the international jet set, the chic venues and luxury hotels are a destination for actors and writers, while politicians and VIPs meet at the little tables of the fashionable cafés. And telling the story are the photoreporters of Via Veneto, the “paparazzi”, who become the protagonists of the wild Roman nights, ready to “steal” images, stories and sensations to sell to the newspapers. And among the most evocative images of that period is surely the very famous scene of Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg in the Trevi Fountain, from the film “La dolce vita” (1960) by Federico Fellini. These are precisely the years of the “Dolce Vita”, during which Italy sets off again with momentum and enthusiasm, often aboard the 500 with which to satisfy, in an accessible way, the growing need for mobility and freedom. And the same atmosphere is experienced in Europe's most famous holiday resorts: from the Côte d'Azur to Forte dei Marmi, from Portofino to Capri. And it is not rare to see the stars of the time aboard the 500 Jolly of 1958, better known as the “Spiaggina”, the first special series of the “Cinquino”, brought back into vogue last summer with the 500 Spiaggina '58 special edition. And today the cheerfulness and the class of the 1960s return with the 500 Dolcevita, which once again explores the world of fashion and boating, as it had already done with the 500 Riva (2016), “The Smallest Yacht in the world”, and the 500 Anniversario (2017), a tribute to the model's 60th anniversary. Moreover, some products born of the creativity of the Italian industry of those years, such as the 500 or the Vespa, have not only entered the collective imagination but are still today a source of inspiration. These are timeless masterpieces: the Fiat 500 is one of them.

The 500 Dolcevita expands the collection of over 30 special series created over the last 12 years that have contributed to the success of the leading model in its segment in Europe. For 2 years it has been FCA's best-selling car, as well as being the progenitor of the family of the same name - 500, 500X and 500L - which recently reached the record of three million units sold in Europe. The new 500 range is available in Switzerland starting from CHF 21'590.
