Zucchero, the undisputed Italian superstar, has to postpone his European tour and therefore his visit to Switzerland. The "D.O.C. World Tour" from the homonym album arrives in Switzerland. Zucchero will go on stage on Sunday the 5th June 2022 at 8 p.m. at the Hallenstadion in Zurich. Tickets purchased earlier in 2020 and 2021 will also remain valid for the new date. Advance sales for the new date are now open.
What Zucchero touches turns to gold. Or even platinum. At least in his native Italy. His last three albums have even gone from double to five times platinum. The man who is known as the father of the Italian blues has, so to speak, praised the success. His last seven studio albums, all from the past 25 years, have ranked number one on the Italian charts, three of which are also number one in Switzerland. To date, the man has sold over 60 million records. In his home country, he can also come back on eight top ten hits, three of which were in a similar league in Switzerland. His super hit “Baila (Sexy Thing)” will not be forgotten: a dance number that he put on the charts not only in the original, but also in a new edition with the Mexican rock band Manà.
Success did not come overnight for Zucchero. After some musical steps in various group formations, he started his own business as a solo artist. His breakthrough came with the album "Rispetto". And again an album later came the very successful debut single: "Senza Una Donna" landed at number two on the charts in Switzerland and Germany. In Italy, on the other hand, he had to wait for the first big hit on the radio. This changed rapidly in the years that followed. Zucchero has become one of the biggest stars of the Italian music scene. In 2006 he was even awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for his services. And last October with the Tenco Prize - the biggest award for songwriters in Italy.
