We meet
Gender differences in medicine matter. Men and women do not react in the same way to treatments and do not always present the same symptoms, even when it comes to mental and brain illnesses. Antonella Santuccione Chadha is a neuroscientist who has long been engaged in studying and disseminating the effects that gender differences bring about in the field of treating mental illnesses. In 2016 she founded the Women's Brain Project, a non-profit organisation of which she is the pro bono chief executive. The project studies how gender affects the treatments for mental disorders. She will tell us about it, presenting the new frontiers of medical research.
Antonella Santuccione Chadha is medical director for Altoida inc. and has devoted her career to the study of new immunotherapies for the treatment of Alzheimer's. Having graduated in Chieti, she has worked in Brussels, Hamburg, Basel and Zurich, collaborating with various organisations and universities. Always at the forefront of research into the disease, for years she has been fighting for the establishment in Switzerland of a global centre for gender precision medicine. She has received many honours and awards, including, in 2021, the Numeri Uno of the Italian Embassy in Bern for her timely contribution to the management of Covid in Abruzzo, and the World Sustainability Award for her contribution to precision medicine. For her research and entrepreneurial path she was also awarded the Cliquot Bold Woman Award in 2022. Santuccione Chadha is vice-president of Euresearch, and many publications are owed to her, including Sex and gender, differenze nell'Alzheimer and, in 2021, La bambina senza testa, which will become a television series.

Having graduated from the University of Chieti, Antonella Santuccione Chadha has worked in several European cities, including Basel, before settling in Zurich. She has won numerous awards for her work as a scientist and her commitment to applying research findings. Woman of the Year in Switzerland in 2019, during the pandemic she stood out for her contribution to the management of Covid in Abruzzo. In 2021 she published Una bambina senza testa, a book about her clinical and research experience aimed at a non-specialist audience, from which a television series will be adapted.
