Polli: “from the earth to our hands and from our hands to your tables”
I eat them for aperitivo

Polli produces and packages typical specialities of the Italian culinary tradition. In the years preceding the unification of Italy, modern needs begin to take hold and the production of foods using the technologies of the time begins, in particular those of food preservation. Sensing the potential of the preserves market, Fausto Polli begins to invest in the cultivation and preservation of tomatoes. In those years the literacy rate is still low and many people are unable to tell which products to buy. Therefore, to make them unmistakable, the first stockfish and tomato preserves under the Polli brand began to be sold in the famous “box with the eagle”, which soon became a symbol of quality on every Italian table. In 1872 the passion of a craftsman turns into a true legal entity. In Milan the Polli company is formally born and, with the help of his sons, opens a delicatessen shop in Via Broletto. The commitment of a family takes on the proportions of a concrete commercial project and soon of a successful industrial reality. After the First World War, in 1919, Giuseppe Polli, Fausto's grandson, takes over an old industrial site used for the production of canned meat in Monsummano Terme and moves production there, founding the first Polli plant. Industrial production begins, using the most advanced technologies for processing and preserving vegetables. As competition increases, the Polli company differentiates its product offering on the market, proposing new and tasty varieties of pickles and vegetables in oil, and it is precisely with these new product lines that overseas export begins.

In the 2000s  the company always managed to evolve and differentiate its products according to the changing tastes of Italians and beyond. The aperitivo has become a social phenomenon and, for some time now, also a modern way of dining with friends at home: no formality, dishes that are easy to prepare and to nibble on, in front of TV series or matches broadcast by satellite. Thus the Melimangio are born: a mix of flavours and colours that will bring fun, taste and originality to each of your homemade aperitivos. Polli has always produced in respect of nature and its rhythms; the raw materials of the products are selected and checked to offer, in every jar or tub, all the Made In Italy quality that has distinguished us since 1872. Moreover, quality also means excellence in taste and in recipes, which open up to new ingredients and seasonings rich in creativity. The most modern technologies are used to process 25,000 tonnes of vegetables and produce more than 110 million packs a year. The desire to innovate is in Polli's DNA, following the needs of Italian and international consumers, who increasingly move in the directions marked out by the brand: taste, quality, wellbeing and conviviality. Quality and innovation are achieved only through the control of every stage of the production cycle. Polli has received  the prestigious ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certification, and one of its missions is the promotion of renewable energies starting from plant biomass. Sustainability is a commitment towards our customers and, for over 20 years, the company has been a supplier to the main national and international distributors.
