Geneva is getting ready to host an unprecedented event: on 28 May 2025 the Arena de Genève will be the stage of “La Grande Soirée”, a gala evening starring two titans of the operatic world, Plácido Domingo with the exceptional participation of Andrea Bocelli, together with two renowned sopranos, Juliana Grigoryan and Varduhi Khachatryan.
The event, organised by the newly founded cultural association Geneva Festival, is a unique occasion for the Geneva public. Domingo, a legendary figure of opera, returns to Geneva after two triumphant concerts at the Victoria Hall, while Bocelli will perform in the city for the first time. The bond between the two artists, strengthened by a long friendship and an artistic collaboration that began in the early days of Bocelli's career, promises an unforgettable performance.
The Orchestra Sinfonica della Magna Grecia, conducted by Eugen Kohn, will accompany the singers, creating an atmosphere of great pathos. The presence of Juliana Grigoryan, winner of the prestigious Operalia competition, and of Varduhi Khachatryan, a soprano with an admirable voice and stage presence, will further enrich the evening, projecting opera towards a new golden age.
“La Grande Soirée” will not only be a concert, but a genuine musical gala, an immersion in the world of opera, Spanish zarzuela and Italian song, with a repertoire ranging from classical pieces to romantic operatic arias such as “Con te partirò”, “Summertime” and “Parla più piano”, with the addition of gems like “Granada”. The event promises to be a moving experience, an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of music and the interpretative art of world-famous performers.
