Yes, the music of Ludovico Einaudi makes it possible, indeed it invites you to do so. Music for taking one pause after another, built on minimalist clarity and calm. It always manages to create sound images, to create a synaesthesia that is second to none, and it is therefore the perfect companion for moving images.
Einaudi sells out in Italy, but his audience is above all European: he is greatly loved in England, where his international fortune began. Yet while the Roman band and the trio of electronic producers are a relatively recent discovery for foreign audiences, the Piedmontese pianist has been listened to abroad for more than 20 years: his figures on the platforms, on TikTok too his track “Experience” has tens of millions of views, are the result of a long career. Interest in his music abroad began about 25 years ago. The first country to respond well was England, followed by Germany and France. After the release of the soundtrack of “The Intouchables” in 2011, Ludovico Einaudi's audience opened up even further internationally. The secret of his success lies in the universality of instrumental music. There is a need to listen to this kind of music, freer, without lyrics binding the listener to one meaning. It is music that leaves you free to imagine who the person is, to connect it with your own background, which is different for everyone. Everyone finds themselves again in some way and enters into a dialogue with who they are and with themselves.
Einaudi celebrates his greatest achievements as a film composer as well, becoming famous worldwide with “Intouchables”, “Samba”, “Nomadland” and “The Father”.
