After enchanting European audiences in recent years, the new tour will stop in four major Swiss cities: Zurich, Bern, Geneva and Basel, offering spectators a moving experience in which music, images and memory merge into a single, overwhelming homage. A symphonic tribute that will bring back to life the immortal art of a composer capable of transforming music into pure emotion.
On the programme, the soundtracks that made Morricone's name famous all over the world: from Once Upon a Time in America to A Fistful of Dollars, from The Mission to The Hateful Eight, from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to Cinema Paradiso. The music will be performed by 80 musicians, singers and soloists of the Milano Festival Opera, under the direction of maestros Marco Seco and Marcin Wolniewski, who will guide the audience on a cinematic journey through the Roman composer's most beloved melodies. In the background, a monumental screen will project original scenes from the films and spectacular video animations, capable of amplifying the epic atmosphere and the emotional intensity of the compositions, delivering that famous “goosebumps” feeling that only Morricone's music can evoke.
Academy Award winner in 2016 for the soundtrack of The Hateful Eight by Quentin Tarantino (after the honorary Oscar for his career in 2007), Ennio Morricone wrote more than 500 soundtracks for cinema and television, collaborating with legendary directors such as Sergio Leone, Brian De Palma, Roland Joffé, Giuseppe Tornatore and many others.
His music, which combines melody, emotion and innovation, has defined the sonic identity of modern cinema and continues to inspire new generations of artists and audiences.
