Mahmood: “Eternantena” is the new single written in quarantine

Mahmood has suddenly released a new song, “Eternantena”, in which he plays, precisely, on the concept of an eternal quarantine. The song was born in these days of forced isolation caused by the coronavirus pandemic that is forcing all of Italy to stay indoors at home. Creativity is one of the few things that does not stop even in quarantine. Mahmood is among the artists who have managed to draw something good from it. Mahmood has released by surprise, exclusively on YouTube, his first piece made for social media. With “Eternantena” the Milanese artist recounts through music the emotions and the gestures that bring us together in these dark times. In the song's video we find the avatar of Mahmood himself, amid black mirrors of water and gloomy atmospheres. These are the words with which the singer shared the new track: “Sometimes it is only in silence that we remember who we are and what we want to become. This period is giving us the chance to be all united for a single goal. Every day I read your messages full of support and encouragement and, to thank you, I have decided to give you a little gift.”

The song lasts 2:22 minutes and, as always, is built on an incredible voice: Mahmood moves without any kind of problem from singing to rapping, showing all his potential and confirming himself as one of the greatest talents Italy has seen in recent years. Like many in his situation, the singer too shows signs of frustration and insomnia: “Ho dato un calcio alla porta della cucina, da un mese e mezzo è che non vedo più un'anima”, but also, precisely, “4 e non ho sonno, è facile per me perdere briciole del mio controllo”. The description of the activities of isolation and of the impossibility of going out, otherwise you risk falling ill, is perfectly captured in the verses. With “Rapide”, still in the top 20 of the most-played radio tracks, in the top 10 of the FIMI chart and certified gold, Mahmood does not stop and, since he will not be able to go on tour any time soon, he tries not to lose contact with his fans. A few days ago, moreover, Mahmood celebrated the platinum certification of his debut album “Gioventù bruciata”, which also features “Soldi”, the track with which he won the Sanremo Festival 2019: “I know for sure that I earned this result through hard work, but every now and then remember to look at the stars.”
