A FESTIVAL FROM 9 TO 11 JUNE, UNDER THE SIGN OF THE ITALIAN “DOLCE VITA”
Tuttoitalia is Media Partner of the Sierre Blues Festival 2022. Among the many festivals of our day, the Sierre Blues Festival is the largest open-air event in French-speaking Switzerland, dedicated to the roots of American music: the BLUES. It is a different festival, with a unique setting: Sierre and its sun, in the heart of Valais. The theme of the event, which will come to life from 9 to 11 June 2022, is the “DOLCE VITA” and it will feature three days of concerts, starting at 5.00 pm, with various artists, including several Italian musical groups. THURSDAY 9 JUNE
SARA ZACCARELLI NU BAND - 6.20 pm - MAIN STAGE
A singer, writer, composer and musician, Sara Zaccarelli is an artist with a truly unique voice and interpretive ability. She nurtures her passion for black music with Groove City and the cream of Italian blues musicians, reaching, at just 20 years old, the stages of German, Swiss and Italian festivals, alongside the Americans Sax Gordon and Toni Green.
Over the years she then explores new dimensions as a composer and writer, starting from the collaboration with bassist Rita Girelli, with whom she founds the Two Woman Band and, later, with her Nu Band, which has received the praise of historic bands (such as the Animals and The Commitments). An eclectic artist, she moves from the melancholy of traditional blues to the brightness of soul, bringing with her the drive of rock and roll and R&B. She took off with the fine album of original tracks “Sing for my soul”, released in 2018, an original neo-soul music project. With this line-up she alternates soul and rhythm and blues standards with her own compositions and draws the listener into a journey through the brightness and beauty of the immortal melodies of the classic songs of the gods of Soul, among them Salomon Burke, Otis Redding, Etta James and Aretha Franklin, with a touch of wit interpreting Eartha Kitt right up to the rock and roll of Tina Turner.
FRIDAY 10 JUNE
SLICKSTEVE & THE GANGSTERS - 12.15 am - STAGE 2
An explosive quartet formed in 2011 in Brescia. The idea came from Slick Steve (alias Stephen Hogan), a singer and showman who is a native English speaker, and Alle B.Goode, a young and talented guitarist recognisable for his Rock’n Roll style. Later, two skilful artists from Brescia joined to support the rhythm section: Beppe Facchetti (drums) and Pietro Ettore Gozzini (double bass).
The project is based on a deliberate artistic blend of vintage and modern sounds, Swing, Rock’n Roll, Rhythm’n Blues and circus performances, ranging from magic to juggling.
SATURDAY 11 JUNE
ZUCCHERO - 10.30 pm - MAIN STAGE
Among the greatest rock blues performers in Italy, Zucchero (real name Adelmo Fornaciari) has sold more than 60 million records over his career, 8 million of them with the album “Oro, incenso & birra”. As well as being the first Western artist to perform at the Kremlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Zucchero is also the only Italian artist to have taken part in the Woodstock Festival in 1994 and in the Freddie Mercury Tribute in 1992.
He was also nominated for a Grammy, with Billy Preston and Eric Clapton, as best “R&B Traditional Vocal Collaboration”. His concert in December 2012 at the Istituto Superiore di Arte in Havana, with over 80,000 people, was considered the largest live show ever held by a foreign singer in embargoed Cuba. With more than 65,000 people present, in July 2018 he performed at Hyde Park, on the occasion of the British Summer Time in London, alongside international artists of the calibre of Eric Clapton, Santana and Steve Winwood. His music has spread beyond national borders, thanks also to the numerous collaborations with international artists of the calibre of Bryan Adams, Al Green, The Blues Brothers, Solomon Burke, Rufus Thomas, Johnny Hallyday, Tony Childs, Sheryl Crow, Tom Jones, Scorpions, Bono, Jeff Beck, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Elvis Costello, Miles Davis, Peter Gabriel, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Mark Knopfler, Brian May, Luciano Pavarotti, Iggy Pop, Queen, Alejandro Sanz, Sting and many others.
